A letter from our Founder

I used to have a little more time to decide what to wear. And a little more certainty about where the day would take me.

When my partner Jasper and I started The Five Studio in Amsterdam, it reflected our lives at the time. Over the years, those lives changed. We became parents, kept building a business together, and found ourselves fitting more and more into each day.

The Five Studio had been part of my life for years, but I no longer felt the same connection to it. Getting dressed had started to mean something different to me. I still cared just as much about clothes, about shape, fabric and how something makes you feel. I just wanted it all to take a little less thought.

I kept reaching for the same kinds of pieces. Something comfortable enough for a day with the children, beautiful enough to feel like myself in, and easy to wear wherever the day ended up taking me. Clothes I could pull on in a hurry and still feel good in.

That’s where ORA began.

Inspired by the circle, ORA is built around the pieces we return to. The ones you wear, combine differently, and rediscover as your life and style evolve. One wardrobe, on rotation.

We started with eight Forms: a considered selection of silhouettes that felt essential to that idea. Fitted tops, more generous shapes, three different bottoms, and a sash to tie things together in your own way. Each has a purpose, and together they give you a foundation to make your own.

We call them Forms because shape is where it starts. How a piece sits on the body, how it moves, how it works with another. The care is in the details: the weight of the cotton, the cut of a sleeve, the way a waistband sits. These are familiar pieces, considered closely and handmade in the Netherlands, with the quality to keep coming back to them.

Jasper and I built ORA together, but the starting point was very personal: this was what I wanted to find in my own wardrobe.

Life keeps moving. These are the pieces I want to take with me.

With Love,
Nicoline & Jasper
